Soft Quadro hack on zd 7000 17" widescreen ??

Has anyone successfully done the Soft Quadro mod on an HP zd 7000 laptop with the 17" widescreen? My video card is NVidia GeForce Go

5600. All attempts to make this mod have failed. Any advice please.

See all of the info in a post on 10/22/04. The steps should be the same, and there is a link to a step by step guide.

These are the steps that I used. With an additional step of getting the latest Quadro FX 500 drivers from nVidia after I went through the steps listed below. You will need Detonator 42.14, Rivatuner, and SoftQuadro4. They should all be available through

formatting link

  1. Downloaded the 52.14 driver (10/19/03) from guru3d.com and unzipped it to a directory.
  2. Ran Rivatuner and ran the NVStrap antiprotection script.
  3. Ran the SoftQuadro4 script
  4. Low-level system tweaks, NVStrap driver settings should be AGP Sideband... Determined by VGA BIOS, AGP fastwrites... Determined by VGA BIOS, Graphics adapter identification custom and use 032B (NVIDIA Quadro FX
500)
  1. Re-Boot and when it tells you new hardware found, choose the "nv4_disp.inf" in the directory you unzipped the driver to.

My PC HDD partition to 3 partition and using gforce fx5600 graphic card. All using windows XP. One for general use, one for solidwork and one for graphic. If I perform the soft quadro tweak on the solidwork partiton, would it effect the others partition? If I not mistaken, if you tweak on the bios side it will effect all the partiton graphic card configuration.

You sound like you don't understand computers very well. Using the tweak, it alters the way XP sees your graphics card. It will affect XP and ALL of the programs that you have on your computer. Partitions have nothing to do with your graphics card. It is like saying if you change the paint inside of your garage, your car will get worse gas mileage.

Actually, YouGo, he could mean that he has installed XP on three different partitions, so when he boots up he can select different images (similar to dual boot of windows and linux, just 3 windows installations). So he's asking if the softquadro changes will affect his bios (on the motherboard) or just the active installation of windows (on the harddrive partition).

You sound like you don't understand computers very well... :)

I can see your point, but it is not logical to install XP on 3 different partitions. Do you care to explain to me why someone would have 3 different images of XP? I can't think of any reason.

I can. I have an extra install for experimentation. It's a good place to try out beta software. It might also be a good way to keep different versions of SW from interfering with each other. It's very handy for when you destroy one instance of windows and it won't boot anymore. After having the second system on hand for one such event, you'll never go back. Just don't hurt ntloader or the MBR. Trust no one. Keep your backups handy. The computer is your friend.

I also have a third partition, but that's XP for 64bit, which I haven't touched in months.

Dale, you are right. I ve encounter alot of problem with windows. From they I ve learn not to ve one OS only for one pc. If the windows won't boot up, during urgent thing you know the situation how bad is it. It is safe to ve two or three windows in different partition with one pc. When I crash one windows, I can still boot up from another windows. I can trial out new software or those unstable software on another windows without crashing my important file. One more good thing is, I don't need to cramp all the software into one windows as you know will slow down the pc and my work. This is the good thing for multiple boots up. I even ve separate HDD with install windows incase another HDD spoil. Play safe. For the soft quadro tweak, if the tweak is just to alter the winXP look at the graphic card, than it won't effect my others partition windows. If the tweak is in bios, than it could effect all the windows partition as the bios is locate at the graphic card and read by the processor. Same as the motherboard. If I m right. Hope YouGoFirst understand my explaination.

I believe you are correct. SoftQuadro is a driver patch. It should have no effect on the system BIOS. Your multi-boot arrangment is an ideal way to test this.

I ve success to softquadro my graphic card gf5600 to fx500. But using the

3dguru instruction 42.51. In solidwork, the realview still grey out. Should I install again the solidwork or the detonator version is too old? I try to follow your way but the instruction confuse me.

SoftQuadro4.

I tried it too and kept getting a "file protected by WFP" warning box when trying to apply the anitprotection etc. Then i tried all the files in the patch folder and they all gave me that error box. Pressing on thru with the prescribed files resulted in a no display reboot and then a rollback. HINT copy your nv4_mini.sys file out to your desktop just to be sure you have a clean copy to drop back in there in case something goes wrong. I have the

5700 go. If anyone has done this please help me. specifiy the exact files needed from guru3d links preferably and a step by step of how to do it. if this is out there i will then for my contribution make an exact howto with screen shots/dig pics of how the process goes. i will then post the files (you won't have to go to guru3d) and the howto so anyone with the 5700 can do this. I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to computers but i'm not the Gate Keeper either but a little more detailed instruction or at the very least what the computer SHOULD be doing as the steps are followed would be tremendous. I am having issues with the 5700. Initially with opengl off I was at a customers and RMB to open file and BOOM there went the screen, had to restart to get it back. Once i turned opengl on it seems better but we all know we don't want to do that. so i would really like to apply the hack if possible. please help. direct contact can be achieved just email me direct for phone number. Aside from that the puter is awsome...hot but awsome. it has gotten quite the comment from customers and jealous engineer types ;0) i thinkit's that big ass screen. if i can get the soft quadro to take i will be very very very happy with my purchase BOB! ;0) Thanks guys.
