SolidMap

OK .... I pulled the trigger! I know that there are a few different threads about SolidMap here, so I just decided to start a new one. Everybody wants to know if this tool is really that great. Well, I bought it. They are running a 30% promotion right now and I just couldn't pass that up. I played with the 30 day trial over the last week, and it seemed like a no brainer. IT is saving me time every day. IF it saves me 10 minutes a day, I pay for my purchase in no time, and I know I am saving more than 10 minutes a day.

You would probably learn more if you just went to their website

They have a bunch of demo movies and a product description. Basically, it shows dependencies between solidworks models (files, assemblies, parts, features).

I can tell you why I like it. It shows me mate relationships between components. The graph shows each assembly component linked together on something that looks like a flowchart. The links tell me what mates exist between the components. If the component is a subassembly, I can expand the suabassembly and look at its mates. If the subassembly has subassemblies, I can expand at that level too. I can contiue to go as deep as I want. The other feature that I really like is the option that shows detailed relationships between features. If I choose that option, then SolidMap shows sketch relations between features. If a feature is driven by another feature which is driven by another feature which is driven by another feature ....etc ... , I can view those relationships all at once on the graph instead of opening each sketch one at a time to figure out what is driving the geometry that I want to change.
