supress original in a circular pattern?

Are you talking sketch pattern or feature pattern?

Either way, I doubt it.

In a sketch you might be able to turn the first into a construction line after patterning. There is no need in a sketch though because you can use select contour to get the same effect and it will be more robust.

I ended up making different reference planes and copying the sketch to each plane....... then I cut/revolved each sketch.

It is only possible with Component patterns. Sketch and feature patterns don't allow this, Funny thing I wanted it just today also. I am using 2004 and wanted to cheat a move faces command that won't be available until we are able to upgrade to 2005. Still waiting on IT to get things done.
