When you have the feature manager area blocked by what ever task, boss, some command... and you need to select a feature in the tree click the top title bar in the feature manager (i.e. when you extrude, click the word 'extrude' at the top of the feature manger) and voila! Feature manager list pops up beside the commnad prompts
