Couplers for IHC SD-24

Hi I would like to improve my couplers from hook horn to Kadee type on the IHC Premier Series SD-24 Any ideas. as I thought the McHenry 56 was a drop in replacement.

thanks Anthony

Interesting. I checked the Kadee conversion list for IHC SD-24 with no luck. Which is strange, the Kadee list is very complete, this is maybe the first time it failed to reccomend a coupler for me. The McHenry website claims that the #56 fits "most" IHC cars and rolling stock, which is encouraging but not a guarantee. Since couplers are fairly cheap I'd just try a pair of #56. If it fits properly and doesn't stick, and the coupler height comes out right, it is a good conversion. If they don't fit the SD-24, they ought to fit something else.

#56 fits the SD-24. #54 is a longer version, if tight radii are a problem. They are split-shank couplers (even longer versions are available for the IHC/Rivarossi passenger cars.)

Kadee has no split=shank couplers.
