final decision: i'll go for railroad modeling :)

as, i think, many newbie modelers i'm trying to decide the scale. i'd prefer to go with n models because of the usual reasons; however i was able to find just a couple of catalogues of models in n scale and, which is the real problem, almost nothing regarding accessories: houses, people and so on. i'm not sure i'm able to build my own houses, street lights, traffic lights and so on and buying them would make things faster and better.

can you please point me to some manufacturer of such accessories in n scale? i've found woodland scenics catalogue, but their items are almost impossible to find here in italy. i can import them, but would like to have some alternatives.

about rails: peco ones are easy to find, as fleishmann are. the latter, however, cost about twice and a half as peco: is there such a big difference? i don't want to waste money, but i won't be able to clean rails every 10 days, then if fleishmann require much less maintenance i'll go for them.

any other suggestion will be appreciated. i didn't find much in the latest posts of the newsgroup.

thanks in advance.

They are a distributor that carry many lines.

Specifically, you want to get a copy of the big Walther's book for N scale. It's got just about everything anyone makes, with good color illustrations.

thanks to both of you, frank and david

i'll send a mail to them.

The Walther's book ought to be available at your friendly local hobby shop (LHS), if they is still an LHS in your locality.
