Maytag Store, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Rt. 309

To anyone from the northeastern part of Pa., in the town of Wilkes-Barre, a message (non Pontiac oriented)

BEWARE- AVOID the Maytag appliance store on Rt. 309 by Home Depot, in Wilkes-Barre. The guy that owns it is a major jerk, he talked me into a $110 gas flow valve for my Magic Chef stove, and then refused to take it back when that was not the problem.

I had to spend another $75 online to get ignitors, which were the real problem. And the p-rick won't take the gas valve back.

The store is located right by where the old Zayre's dept. store used to be, on RT. 309.

BEWARE- SHOP ELSEWHERE !! The guy changes from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde depending on if you are handing him money or not at the time.

If you don't know what you are doing, hire someone who does to fix your stove. No one wants to buy a part that an amateur has has installed and then removed just to see if that was the problem.

Most stores that sell repair parts, auto, appliance, etc. will usually take back all but eletcrical parts. The guy is a jerk. S/V Express 30 "Ringmaster" "Trains are a winter sport"

```````` Actually . . . not so far fetched.
Dad bought me my first HO set when I was a kid from Weitz Appliances up in Chicago.
It was kind of an appliance store that sold trains on the side!
They used to advertize in MR mag back in the 1960's. But Mr. Weithz, and probably the store, are long gone.
BTW, down here (La Salle, IL) we have a pharmacy that sells trains on the side. Owner is an O-scale guy, but sells HO and N stuff, too. Arkins Rexall Drug.
I think that's the vendor I bought an HO NYC diesel from at the GATS in Indy a few years ago. Good price, nice people?
Here in Southern California, there's San-Val that is mostly an aircraft supply (full size ones, its next to Van Nuys Airport) that also sells model trains. Mostly G scale, but a lot more HO and N these days. Great prices, as it is the owner's passion rather than his primary business.
Then there's Long's Drugs in Moreno Valley. A regular Sav-on/Walgreens type drug store, but with a rather extensive train section.
