Now I wouldn't mind seeing that at a rally - better than a green hole anyway. Just goes to show that the 'entry ticket' problem has less to do with the engine than the attitude of the exhibitor.

I entirely agree. One of my recent Ebay purchases is a PAZ1 genny set which I will rally, and use as house back-up, if I can make up the missing switchboard. It is after all a worthy successor to a P-L. The set is by Workman-Read and if anyone has pics or a circuit for such a beast I'd be thrilled to hear from you :-) ttfn Roland

Isn't that the point ?

Anyway, this looks like a cute little thing and it's pretty tidy. I've always had a fondness for tiny diesels. Is this model boringly common or something ?

Hear hear. Nothing against Lister D's, but for me, as a rally visitor, variety is all.

Absolutely! Could not agree more. This is one of the reasons why I haul a pile of old electronic test gear about with me to events. I've always got at least one engine running, three at Astle Park, but it is the electronic stuff which makes the public stop and chat.

Variety is so important when exhibiting and a line of Lister D's - no matter how well presented - is still a line of oblong green anonymous blocks with a whisp of steam coming out of the top.

A Suffolk Punch, a Villiers 25, a Petter A1 and a PAZI would make an interesting line up.

Some of the old Laboratory equipment I find fascinating, and have a goodly collection of mahogany and slate under the desk...

Also a while back I picked up some old knife switches in Spain on ebay, took absolutely ages to get here, but they are really dinky and have the quick-release contacts that snap back after the main blade breaks.

i agree, it dose encourage the unreal people shoudl we say.

i collect petters a and w type but i haven't yet shown them, as i jus cant be really bothered with lugin them about. yea ok i know a PETTER W is rare compared to a Lister D, but there so much bulkier.

Of course i have the everday D i dont know someoen who collect engines who dont, (now someones gonna butt in and prove me wrong, maybe i should write had a Lister D at one point:),)

I am considering doing my local show next year though with my TVO petter W, it currently being repainted as its condidtion is awful. someone, has panited over the rush, lazy person

funniest thing is, they've primed it first with red oxide, surely if u was gonna spend the money u would of brought some sand paper.
