Lister D on E-bay

I asked whether the pump was actually a Stuart-Turner and received a two part reply which I thought might interest the assembled company!!!!! first: "no its australian stewart warner.or that is what its casting says.i might be wrong, someone might have broken in and recast the item and put it back. normally too rich to be wrong.mistakes make losses. i typed it slow for you."

...and then: "YOU HAVE BOUGHT FEEDBACK ITS NOT REAL AS YOU HAVE NEVER EVER SOLD ANYTHING ON EBAY AND ALL YOUR SELLERS HAVE RED AND BLUE STARS.DO NOT BID ON THIS OR ANY ITEM OF OURS.YOU ARE A SCAMMER WE FEEL.HAVE ALERTED EBAY.DO NOT BID ON THIS ITEM. SIDNEY."

What a charmer (not) Roland

One of the others bidding is also a dealer by the look of his recent auctions, although he does a natty line in trainers.

Two are newbies who shouldn't be out after dark, (June 05 and September 05 registration)let alone bidding on this sort of thing, so they are probably shill bidders.

None of the bidders has any history of stationary engine buys or sells.

You've seen it all before, it's a scam by any other name.

Presumably the size of his ebay commission will be great enough to make him think twice, or he will pull it if it doesn't go before the finish.

Watch the winning bidder's feedback and see if BOTH sides post it or not.

I think the phrase here that I find most telling is "normally too rich to be wrong".

All over now. Assuming the winning bidder was not genuine I do not see what anyone had to gain from this pantomime. Perhaps if the vendor is too rich to be wrong, he is also rich enough to fork out the ebay fee just for his own bizarre entertainment.

Nothing wrong with the 'ute' - I would have thought the Rover 100, er, Metro was more questionable. As ever classicism is in the eye of the beholder ;-)

He appears to have an interesting view on what constitutes a 'classic' car on the 'earouge' site - an '80's Hyundai pick-up for instance, yes really! :).

Gosh, does this mean that E-bay is listening after all? What a very satisfying end to this thread.
