I went to see a ST P5 and a P55 marine engines this evening, advertised at thirty quid. I thought it might be too good to be true and it was. Both are seized - the twin is rigid and the single has/had stuck rings (the flywheel moved very slightly). A good wrench by hand freed it off a bit, but the water cooled exhaust manifold was frost damaged - snapped clean in two!
The P55 is in much worse condition, a spark plug out and another exploded manifold and - whilst it appears to be mostly all there - is as solid as a rock. I've enough to do already and already own two P55's and a P5 in much better nick that are on my list of things to move along the bus. Therefore, I cried off. As I was leaving, his wife came out to say that there was a man on the phone about the marine engines, so I don't think they'll be there long.
There was also a French air-cooled engine. It's a curious boxy thing that came from a horse drawn mowing machine. In large pieces and needs a fair amount of TLC and an oil control piston ring. My antenna twitched slightly, but not to a wallet-opening extent.
The Lister L I mentioned before is quite good - class two going on three, I'd judge - an "earlier restoration" as they say. The front axle beam has collapsed and it will need hydraulic aid or a number of strong, healthy young men to shift it. It rotates freely and would not be a difficult restoration proposition I think.
Very easy to find. Phone number etc if you contact me off list.

Kim Siddorn.
