OT - Volvos for sale

Volvo 740 estate.

It is an ideal stationary engine exhibitors car and will readily absorb camping and engine equipment for a weekend away. I have frequently had two Norman T300's and a Coventry Victor flat twin aboard, plus my old electrical instruments display, tables, chair and gazebo and can carry a passenger or two as well whilst remaining well within it's load limit. Saves pulling a trailer!

It is a good, uptogether example of the breed, a 2.3 litre normally aspirated C reg estate (a good bit bigger than the 240 series) with 146,000 odd miles on the clock. It is currently taxed until February and MOT'd until March. I've transferred a lot of good bits from the 760 to this car, so it has five good tyres on top-of-the-range 15" alloy wheels and everything works, including the central locking, radio and sunshine roof. It has a Volvo-original towbar and the trailer electrics work. I've renovated the rear wiper system which had seized and fixed the rear door lock which had fallen apart. The propshaft rubber joint needed replacing and I've had this done.

Since I bought it six weeks ago, I've done over 2,000 miles in it - mostly at speed on the motorway - and it has never missed a beat, returning a measured average of 27 - 28 to the gallon, regardless of what I'm carrying!

On the downside, it has some rust in the driver's door and the headlining is scrappy. Aside from that, it's fine.

I'm looking for £550.00 - anyone interested before I put it on E-bay?

AND ............ The 760 estate I've been running for seven years finally blew a head gasket and radiator side tank after 293,000+ miles, thus rendering it hors de combat. It still goes OK and is otherwise in very good order mechanically, but is too expensive to fix unless the owner is doing the work - only a hindered quid, but you'd better be quick as it must go in the early days of this coming week, one way or another....... No tax, MOT'd until July 2005

No thanks, I already have a working Volvo estate.

So why do I have this sudden dread that I'm about to be tailgated by a pikeywagon about two days after you shifted them ? 8-(

Should have known ! Got sideswiped by a Polo just this afternoon

Fortunately the damage amounts to about 37p and some swearing-induced laryngitis. I'll have to replant the tailgate though - I had crocuses planted in that muck, now they've gone and scraped it all off.
