Has anyone been to the Crossness Pumping Station or has joined the Trust?

Yes, I went there a few years ago. Its a bit of an odd place to find, the urban sprawl sort of just runs out as you get nearer the river, and ISTR driving up a road past some allotments. Howvever, a very atmospheric place and well worth a visit, those big beam engines are truly amazing. There is, or was, also a building near to the entrance, full of very large modern engines running on the methane gas from the sewage and no doubt generating a fair amount of power. The site is so huge that when one set of pumps/engines becomes obsolete it seems they are just abandoned and another new pump house built.
