108 DMU

Hi All, According to the "blurb" in the Bachmann advert on the back of Model Rail, the new 108 has interior lighting ? Yet on here or on DCCUK I have not yet seen any comments on this ??

Is it so ? Is this a UK first ?

Andy

I don't know if it's a first, but there is interior lighting of a kind. I believe that the LED used for the destination blind also feeds light to the carriage via a clear plastic conduit arrangement. In the case of my unit, it seems the power car lighting isn't working, so I get one car lit (dimly), while the other is pitch black. I suppose that could be reminiscent of the real thing if the lighting circuit in one car had failed... ;-)

that allowed us to play count the tunnels and see who would give in first by switching them back on whilst commuting on the WCML.

Perhaps it's to help disguise the exposed mechanism?

Apart from the pullman coaches with working lights, I cannot think of any others. It's a bit dim but that's all right.

Have you taken the body off and got the power feeds bent while replacing it?

Haven't taken the body off at all. Will check it when I install a DCC decoder.
