Can anyone suggest a suitable font for making EWS lettering? I'm currently using one called TechnicBold but the letters are a bit thin and too rounded at the ends

I believe its the Ariel typeface.
Arial, Microsoft's version of Helvetica, is the most common sans-serif font in use on computers.
EWS use Gill Sans Bold as their main font, including the logo and numbers. A classic railway typeface!
For the original EW & S Version, Arial works perfectly.
Thanks, looks spot on! I tried Arial but the tails of the 6s were hooked over instead of straight.

Eric Gill devised Gill Sans for use on railways, apparently as a youth he was annoyed by being unableto read the lettering on passing locomotives, the style was adopted by the LNER
