Hornby ventures into N gauge

Dare we hope this is the beginning of something major?

There's a lot of superb models that N gaugers would lobe to see scaled down.

Don't forget these things are not plastic injection moulded like the locos and rolling stock, but made out of high density poly resin, which means they are much cheaper to produce.

Presumably, if they are built to 2mm = 1ft scale, they will not be the same scale as N Gauge.

If they are any good the 2mm Scale modellers will be happy.

If they have, very little is useable as all Lima's N Gauge locos were very out of proportion.

They did latterly produce some nice freight vehicles which could be resurrected, namely the Syphon G, BR CCT and GWR Horsebox.

It's a pity the locos were so out of scale, as the quality of moulding was excellent - far crisper than the current crop of GF stock.

I remember, as a boy, proudly getting my first Lima Deltic and them watching in horror as it demolished my Builder Plus station footbridge.

Dapol are producing the SR design CCT - a wooden panelled affair not at all like Lima's BR Steel bodied van.
