Ian Rice etc

Salvé Dear All, Does anyone know if the place that Ian Ricer and some others founded a couple of decades ago to promote courses in model loco building etc is still existing and if so where is it and how does one get in touch with it? if not are there other places where such courses are held and a reasonable level of instruction given? I've been thinking of a different sort of holiday this year....... Beowulf

You might be referring to the Gt Missenden course, held in March ? Website is below, but suspect the places for 2005 might have gone already.

I have no connection with above, never attended one of their courses. I do know some of the tutors.

At a more specialist level, I could put you intouch with a B&B in rural mid-Wales which will do tuition in 2mm scale modelling; scratchbuilding locos, trackmaking, that sort of thing. Contact me via the 2mm website contact address (URL in signature below) if interested.

You will find it at

But I suspect you are too late for this year and need to get your booking in very quickly for 2005. Keith

Iain Rice did run residential courses on various aspects of model railways at Chagford, Devon. As far as I know he stopped running these for several years ago.

The Missenden weekends aren't quite the same thing.
