(an active online French retailer), it appears that the HO European tooling from the Lima group (in liquidation since July) has been sold to Roco. The Arnold N scale product line has apparently been picked up by Marklin, and the North American products acquired by Walthers of Milwaukee.

Roco will apparently second production of the former Lima group line to a firm in the Czech Republic known as Barum.

As a consequence of these big changes, Roco's projected American- prototype product line has been suspended.

If anyone else can confirm some or all of these details, I think we'd all be grateful."

I contacted Walthers and asked them this directly. They said it wasn't true.

I have no way of knowing if I was told the truth of course, but usually if a company acquires another's range, they make a big song and dance about it, they don't deny it. (and considering what has just happened to the Athearn range of models - one of Walthers biggest selling products- they would have more than enough reason to shout about the acquisition of Rivarossi)

They did confirm that Rivarossi (as a separate entity from Walthers) are booked to appear at one of the big 2004 trade shows and Rivarrosi products are freely available once again in Europe.

Apparantly, Barum is Czech tyre manufacturer with no model railway experience, and no experience of moulding with plastics.

I guess someone could always phone Lima. If they're (still, six months later) in receivership then that very process means there will be someone on the other end of the phone only too willing to answer questions. That's what receivers do.
