Brief Encounter has already been done - in the NRM.
Also somewhere in Norfolk, IIRC.
Actually, it's the WHOLE of Norfolk.

And there's currently a play/film combination playing somewhere in London I think. Cuts from the film to stage then back again I've read.

Lyons Corner House.
Changed their name to Jolyon (as m in the Forsyte Saga) nncirca 1970.
Sorry, I didn't mean the big chain but more the independent shops run by little old ladies. They were dotted all over the English suburbs.

No ! but I do remember the Kardomah Cafe in Derby's Cornmarket.

The building in the background used to be a department store, now the Derbyshire Building Society's main office in Derby. Note the trolley bus wires.
If you had turned up to your left when the original photo was taken and walked about 50 yards you would have ended up facing Golden Gains, a great model shop, sadly now gone :-(
Still plenty out here in the sticks! And about 300 crammed into 2 sq. ft. in Cheddar Gorge......

We've got an upmarket tea room around here called "Tete á Tete" but it's not the same as the old working class tea shops on the corner. The one nearest me always had a peculiar smell in it which I could never figure out. Don't know if that was typical of the period?
