Does anyone know its' DCC status?

As it will likely use either the existing class 55 or 47 chassis then it's probable that it will be DCC ready. You could always try ringing the NRM and asking the question before placing an order.

True, but then again, asking here saves me a phone call and them having to answer if if it's already been answered.

But if you want one you'll have to ring them anyway to order one!

John.
And the girls who answer the telephone at the NRM are likely to know what DCC is?

When I ordered mine at the back end of last week, the lady at the NRM was able to confirm it would be DCC ready.

Did she say whether it had a 21-pin socket or not? The catalogue entry for the standard Deltic doesn't mention it.

I didn't ask, but it doesn't bother me anyway as both 8 and 21-pin decoders are readily available.
The standard 'Deltic' chassis would probably not be the one used on the prototype model as the wheelbase is different. My guess is that the 47/57 chassis will provide the basis for the prototype - it's very much closer. In that case the likelihood is that a 21-pin socket will be provided.
John.
As far as I know only a 21-pin socket will accept the matching sound chip? The two kinds of Deltic might not look the same but I presume they sounded the same. In either case I'm waitng for the 'unboxed' edition.

I guess they'd sound very similar, but using a class 47/57 chassis wouldn't preclude the fitting of a class 55 sound chip.

Now being reported that they've sold out.
