Sorry can't find Councillor Page's letter

It all sounds so horribly farmiliar! One of the best off-road sites, near Chesterfield, had problems with staging events due to the percieved presence of some newt or flower or something. Proposals were put forward to "manage" the site, and an "action plan" was put forward to "maintain the environment" etc etc - all at cost to you, dear tax payer, of course. Those causing the problem simply couldn't get it through thick heads that the reason the newts/plants were there was simply *because* it is an off-road site - no "management" required! I believe this was resolved by the farmer insisting on site checks to find the newts/plants, and also insisting the he, or a representative, be in attendence during such vistits. I'll leave you to speculate why he did this, but no newts/plants were found, and the facility is still used by many thousands of happy people, rather than being fenced off.

Is that an agist comment or what ? Perhaps these "fairly elderly gentlemen" do this to relieve stress.
