opening tender drive

I have recently bought an OO Hornby GWR 4-4-0 engine "County of Bedford" with a tender drive, second hand with no instructions.

Opening the tender to look at the motor has be quite flummoxed - can anyone tell me the trick?

The tender top is a clip fit onto the footplate. Removing it is fairly easy, but you have to have right technique and avoid damaging the moulded handrails on the rear corners of the tender body.

It's not easy to explain but the retaining clips are along the length of the tender sides and you need to squeeze in at front & rear of tender to release these. If at all possible *avoid* using a blade or screwdriver to aid removal as these can damage the tender top.
