The Blackpool Highflyer

If you are interested in reading a good mystery novel set in Edwardian times on the L&Y Railway, I would recommend 'The Blackpool Highflyer' by Andrew Martin. It features the same main character who was in 'The Necropolis Railway' who is now working as a fireman on the L&Y. Very good period feel and well researched with plenty of railway action.

Can anyone recommend any other railway based thrillers ?

I've an old paperback originally from 1983, published by the Paperback division of W.H. Allen & Co.Ltd. as Star Books, ISBN 0 352 31293 9, titled 'Macabre Railway Stories', not truely thrillers but interesting and different short railway stories, including one by Dickens and another by L.T.C. Rolt. Regards, Bill.
