That did occur to me when I posted it.

(Why do we "post" messages to an electronic medium?)

Canada Post lost so much business to couriers, then e-mail and the internet, that they got themselves into the electronic bill delivery business - called e-Post! They even bought their own courier business, from Purolator - a company that also makes industrial filters.

There's a business opportunity for you!

I wanted to order some memory wire (weighing a few grams including packaging), but the shipping cost (by courier, of course) was more than the value of the product. I subsequently bought some from Europe, and it arrived tucked into an envelope at the minimum Airmail rate.

It crossed my mind, but it's a lot of money up front!

It just keeps getting better and better, doesn't it? I've now discovered that when we take the little tykes (sorry, I mean educationally challenged young persons) to school in their limos, they have to have an escort, who gets paid for providing the service. And that escort can be the young person's mother!

And even betterer, if the said tyke does not feel like going to school, then they don't go, but the driver and escort bung in their dockets anyway, get paid, and a backhander to the young person keeps everything sorted. Ah, the joys of free enterprise!

Cheers, Steve
