At least he's wearing his safety glasses

I found this through reddit, and thought a few of you might get a laugh:

NOW, you know why China can can produce products cheaper than we can. Not only do they have "slave" labor, but they seem to have no OSHA or EPA. ....Not that the EPA would be involved with this particular article.

I've also seen a picture of an Indian guy welding by looking through a slit between his fingers!

I'm pretty sure I saw that on Monster Garage or some other showcase of idiocy

Of course I also assume he must be doing maintenance welding work on a Chinese fireworks assembly line about 10 feet away from the main gunpowder storage bin. Oh yeah. Dave

--And we wonder why Chinese goods are so cheap, eh? Funny how the price drops when the workers are treated like slaves..

After glancing at the supercilious comments on this photo, I would direct readers to *any* episode of "American Chopper" which features Mig/Tig welding. Even allowing for TV bravado...

They have them, but they're well paid (off).

It's ironic that they still have the balls to call it "The _People's Republic of China". What they need is a worker's revolution.

Rule of thumb: any nation calling itself "The People's Republic of thus-and-such" or the "so-and-so Democratic Republic" -- isn't.

In most of the world the welding hoods we take for granted are non-existent. They routinely arc weld with simple goggles, or a lens held in front of their face. I have seen welding glasses made from beer bottles and pieces of charred plastic.

We have a greater expectation of life. We actually plan on living a long life with reasonable health.

They have no such illusions.

It looks like the paper is only to protect the face from splatter, you can see the eyeballs so there must be holes to see thru. No protection from intense light and UV.
