If you're going to spam at least learn how to spell.

Advertisement: Check. Unwanted: Check. Off topic: Um, actually not. Against the charter of this newsgroup: Check (though a technical rather than a blatant violation). Spam: Not even close!

Spam is the same thing many times, unless it was posted *many* times, it is NOT spam. Both of you, please clue up a bit so usenet can thrive again.

Who in the flying f*ck cares if something is "against the charter". Wadda you gonna do, revoke someone's "membership" for doing something "against the charter"?

Your attempts at defining spam are comical. As are your dick waving attempts at displaying some kind of "I'm the boss" posture by telling someone to "clue up so usenet can thrive again".

Who the f*ck are you? And since when did YOU define what usenet is supposed to be?

Lumpy, I suggest that you, a newbie to this newsgroup, tone down, especially if you have nothing to contribute about welding.

Oh go weld yourself, Iggie. You have no idea how long I've been a subscriber of this usenet group.

Please give me a list of how YOU feel I should act on this unmoderated public forum.

Lumpy

Did you do a lot of those Emergency Broadcast Warnings? Yes. Had it been an actual emergency I would have hid.

I feel that you should be polite and talk mostly about welding.

If you find out a price, please share!

Suspect they are quite expensive, but if they have a reasonable life they

*might* be cost effective.

What are folks here currently using for grinding aluminum?

I'm using 36 grit blue "Norzon" from my local welding supplier. Also rather pricey at ~$3 bucks each, but they last longer than the crappy brown ones from the big box building suppler.

Remember using hard disks for a 9" grinder that were specially made for aluminum back in the 80s. Assume they still make these and have them for 4" grinders? Have not researched this since grinding aluminum was such a small part of my previous job...

Several Years ago, while I was teaching at the Divers Institute, I got a phone call from a sales rep from a comp[any selling Diamond grinding wheels for steel. He claimed that they outlasted normal abrasives 100's to 1, and even though each wheel cost $150.

Where he lost me was when it became clear he had no idea who made abrasives. He had never heard of Pferd or Norton.

I hung up.

Later on those Diamond wheel showed up at Central Welding, and reports were coming back of lots of problems with them. The main one being that Diamond, run at high friction speeds, with no coolant tends to impart carbon into the surface of steel. You sure as hell can't use that for prepping pipe ends for welding.

That's wonderful. You too can go f*ck yourself, Bob. Welcome to usenet.

Sheesh. Another clueless viewer of a computer screen. Clue by four...This is usenet. That's not a google group.

Now get back to discussing who it is that scares you on public, unmoderated forums. Block me if it's just so scary for you to read me.

Grind aluminum...Right.

So what? Whether I got here yesterday or a decade ago, I'm simply one. As are you. As are the others. NOBODY has any more or less right/clout/rank than anyone else on usenet. Those that want to try and exert a disabused sense of that false rank, demonstrate their (pardon the pun) ignorance.

Now, you wanna talk about my "tenure" or you wanna grind some Al? One will get you a loaded grinding wheel. The other will get you a load of my shit.

Lumpy

You were the "OPERATION" game voice? Yes. Take out wrenched ankle.

"Scary"?? ... "scary"? Hardly. Rude and unpleasant, definitely.

Plonk.

Ah the public plonk. Never really happens. You'll go on reading my stuff. But that "I'm just not going to listen to the big bad man" attitude allows you to feel safe in your own little world.

Safe is good. You're safe now, Bob. No rude posters to rock your world.

Lumpy

How come you didn't star on Star Trek? Because Clint Howard beat me for the part of Balok.
