Hydraulics for a Pro-tools/ JD-squared bender

Well, I finally did it... I bought the Pro-tools bender I've always wanted. The hydraulics were a little pricey though, so I figured I'd piece my own system together myself and bend "by hand" in the mean time. I was able to get a hydraulic power unit on Ebay for a steal but haven't had a lot of luck finding the right cylinder. Anyone know of any good sources for long-stroke hyd cylinders? probably about 14-18" stroke and a 2" bore (???)...



Anyone else out there done their own hydraulics on one of these style tubing benders?

You might find a cylinder at a local junkyard, if not then try Surplus Center, they've got a good selection of cylinders at what seem to be decent prices.

That's a pretty common size cylinder, you might also try a farm equipment store.. a good truck parts place might be able to set you up too.

I have used this company for various stuff with good luck, The prices are pretty good too.

Northern Tool (like a Harbor Freight with industrial stuff too)

Thanks for the suggestions... any advice on the type of valve to use for a tubing bender? Planning on a double-acting cylinder...
