I live in Houston (Texas) and need to find a place to buy metal to use in welding. I have no idea where to get metal stock other than the high priced stuff in places like Home Depot.
Specifically, and tips on where to find large sheets of say 1/8" sheet metal, pipe, etc. What section of the Yellow Pages do I go to?
My local welding supply company is worthless.

I just did Houston yellow page search on line for metal and scrap metal. Found many listings.
Look under steel and metals in the yellow pages. Drop by decorativeiron.com on South Wayside, too for lots and lots of ideas. I believe they also sell tubing, pipe, and plate, or can steer you to a good source.

I found 105 listings with Houston as the location.
Try Triple S Steel. They have a website.
Try steel in the yellow pages.
