im getting ready to mount oxy/fuel tanks on a trailer that will be kept outside. im looking for a source of regulator boots or some other type of water-proof bag that i can slip over my torch gauges to keep them out of the weather when not in use. i prefer something with draw strings to prevent the boot from blowing off when going down the road. any tips would be appreciated.

McMaster Carr has something that might work. Go to their site at

and search for "drawstring". The first link is for a 2-MIL Polyethylene bag that would probably work. I don't know how well they would hold up but you get 100 in a pack so you can replace them often.
Most other bags that I've seen are not waterproof.
If you don't already have them you might also want to get a pair of the tank valve covers that you can use while the regulator is still installed. Search McMaster for "Gas Cylinder Safety Caps" and then scroll down the page. I'm not sure but I don't believe you're legally supposed to transport a cylinder with the regulator on if you don't have one of these caps.

i bought the miller tarp/cover for the welder, and was hoping to find something similar for my regulators. if i cant find them, your link will certainly get me by. thanks keith!
Paint a bucket miller blue and invert over regulator and cylinder top.
My 2c: I understand that here in British Columbia it is not legal to transport oxy/fuel cylinders in your truck with the regs installed. In any event, I personally would not. The level of danger is increased with the regs on should there be an accident of some sort. I reckon you should check the rules in your jurisdiction. Ciao, David Todtman
