TIG AMP RANGE

If a tig is stated as having a range of 20-200 amps will it butt-weld steal thinner than 20 guage..thats about 0.7mm....without blowing thru etc. This is a conventional ac-dc transformer tig with no slopes or square wave or pulse. all the best..mark

1 amp per thousandth for single pass welds.

0.001" = ~ 0.025 mm

so 0.7mm / 0.025 mm = 28 amps.

So yes it will weld metal that thin if you can dial it down far enough.
