Feb. issue of MA last page -- page 200, Joyce Hager's report, 1st column, 3rd paragraph:
"AMA will discontinue issuing 30-day temporary receipts. New membership applications that are faxed or submitted via the Internet will receive confirmation that the application has been received and will be processed as soon as possible. The new memberships (Capitals my addition) WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN PROCESSED AND THEIR AMA NUMBERS ASSIGNED."
By that it looks as the "instant memberships' other than the CD issued ones at Sanctioned Events are not in the current AMA operational plan. Anyone without an assigned AMA number is NOT an AMA member.
Again AMA headquarters screws the pooch as this info was not even posted in the page 6 "On the Fly" the supposedly late-breaking-news of operational items. Important Charter Club info. has to be hidden in the magazine back page, but the MA mission statement is well posted on page 6.
Just another item to list of the *screw the clubs and members trying to comply with AMA bureaucracy". Happy New year and aren't you so happy that you are Club Officers???
