APC 14x7 prop - max bore size

Nov 25, 2004 4 Replies

I have an old OS90 fourstroke, which has a relatively short crankshaft thread.

I am thinking of making up a sleeve nut with a 5/16 UNF thread inside, and an 11 millimetre outside diameter.

Does anyone know what the max bore size for a 14 x 7 APC sport prop is? Can it be bored out to 11 mm without affecting the hub strength ?

I have looked at the APC website but they do not give any contact details at all .....

I can't directly address your engine/prop combo, but a couple of years ago I bored out some eight and nine inch APC racing props to 3/8" (.375") to adapt them to some ducted fan engines I was testing on a dyno. Your going to 11mm (.433") on a prop with a bigger hub will likely not stress the hub any more at 9,000 rpm than I did at 20,000+ rpm.

I have used a 4 inch carbite tiped saw blade on a table saw to cut every thing,, tube or solid,, up to 1 inch......Chas.

Did you look at the bottom of their home page???

Thanks Paul

I have suspected I was getting senile - now I know senility has set in - it was off the page on my browser/VDU set up.

thanks
