newbie here looking for glider w/power

Jul 26, 2003 6 Replies

I am new to this but really like to build things. I am looking for a great starter glider w/ a motor that I can hand launch. I already have a TX and RX w/servos. Just need a great plane. I want to try out gliders before stepping up to gas. Any help would be great.

Goldberg Electra in kit form if you really want to build a kit. Dump the stock prop setup and go for a Master Airscrew 2.5:1 or 3:1 gearbox and Master Airscrew 12X8 folding prop. The Electra can be built with either motor setup and includes the wood, plans, and directions to build either. Got mine carrying a wireless video system right now.

They have some excellent ARF electric powered gliders. Good prices too!

Take a look at the Hangar 9 Aspire EP. It's a great flying electric powered sailplane that can easily be hand launched. You will probably want to buy another servo to operate an on/off switch, or buy a speed control. Running full throttle all the time isn't as exciting as it sounds, plus your flight times will be quite short.

Oops...should have checked my database. The Aspire and Aspire EP have been discontinued. Sorry about that.

How about the Butterfly, by Dynaflight..put a .15 on the nose and you will have a lot of fun! 100' wingspan No special servos.
