I've never heard that term before. I've always [heard it] called a "rounding sleeve".

The whole page looks about like the 1923 Southbend "How to Run a Lathe" book that I used when learning to run a lathe. The Southbend book had photos in addition to the line drawings. God, that was a long time ago.

I have a copy of that book; but mine is the 40th edition, copyrighted in

1941. I can't find any mention of a cathead, though.

I have that as well...(someplace around here )--it's a classic, and I'd suggest you should hang onto it...

Though my personal favorite is by Norton ASbrasives, "Toolroom Grinding".
