changing cylinders in the bigger "american lock" padlocks

on their larger padlocks, is this pretty straight forward task? are any special tools, hardwares, or specialized 'keys' required to remove the old cylinders or to reinsert the new ones? any other prerequisites?

bottom of padlock has what could be described as a figure 8 shaped plate over the key area?

OPEN the lock..and look down the shackle hole.. allen wrench..
