Hi. I dont want to violate your code of ethics....

...but I have a briefcase that was played with by my kids and they reset the combination. It is a US Luggage leather model with two three tumbler(?) numbers. I was able to pop the latches open with a small screwdriver so I could get all my stuff out, but now I am left with a nice briefcase that I cant use. What would you suggest I do? Keep trying to figure out the combinations, take it to a locksmith or toss it in the trash? Thanks for any advice! Carl

on some you can find the combination by sticking a cut down feeler gauge between the wheel with the numbers on it and the case, you can feel the flat spots on each. or wiggle the lever back and forth as you change the numbers, starting with the one closest to the lever, and when the wheel stops moving so much as the lever is, you have your number. then do the rest.

To decode we would charge about $10. Prices may vary from place to place.

You can also set the case next to your easy chair and each time a commercial comes on TV work through the combinations. It goes faster than you might at first think and only doing it doing it during the commercials takes out the tedium.

If you broke the locks and the case is a nice one, a luggage might very well be able to replace the locks. If this was a $20 case made a in China you might as well just toss it.

OK. Thanks for the help. I'll try fiddling with it for awhile, then when I give up, I'll take it to a pro.

Like someone already suggested. sit in front of your TV and just try numbers while you're watching.
