Dumb question: I have a round floor safe [mfg unknown] with no "handle." While locked, the top plate will spin freely, but can't move upward. The dial can be depressed about 3/8 of an inch and wil rotate say between 80 and 20 before meeting resistance. I know the combination. I enter the combination [not depressing the dial] but don't know how to get the pins which hold the plate to retract. Any guidance appreciated. Thank you.

I believe.. once you get the 3? numbers entered, depress the dial and turn.. try to the left..while holding the safe head from turning..

Dial the combination, this should be 3 numbers, then turn the dial to the right stopping at 0. Now depress the dial and turn to the right. That should retract your bolts.
Sounds to me like yu have a Star safe.
