HPC - CodeMax: How much is it in the US?

HPC does not tell me the US price for a Codemax, cuz they want me to buy it from the UK importer at his price. That may in fact turn out to be my only option. But anyway, how much do you guys pay for it in the States?

In the UK, I'd pay US$ 6700+ local sales tax at 17.5%, plus a UK piece of code software at about US$1000.

Steep, all that...

Kind regards,

Chris the dinosaur depth key cutter from the UK.

Why can't you have a friend in the states buy it for you, then ship it to you?

If you have a credit card, just use the HPC web site to make a purchase. If you are worried about the transaction then just call them, phone call will only cost a couple of quid. I'm in Australia, and purchase tools etc from overseas on the WWW all the time. Save a packet too !

Steve if I'm thinking right then HPC wont sell to locksmiths directly. They make you go through the distributer. The site is

Ah ...... I see said the blind man. Never dealt with HPC, but I have purchased other products from over there direct from the manufacturer. He might be better off buying one from a U.S. based distributor then. Don't know why he wants to start with a codemax anyway, they are way too expensive a code machine at the best of times ! Cheers Glen.

Why don't you check out Code Pro, you can get a whole lot more bang for the buck there.

The main advantage is that its cheap (comparatively). The CodeMax costs US$6705 before local taxes and transport in the UK, the Unocode

299 is a good US$1600 more expensive.

Things are bloody expensive in the UK, then again, we are only a small regional market: The HPC distributor here has, I think at least, sold a mere 25 CodeMax machines in the past few years.

But I'm open minded, got something better to suggest?

Kind regards,

chris

YEP, !! The ITL 950 code machine is, I believe just as good as a codemax, and is more versatile. I've had one in the back of my van for about 5 years now, been bumped around on some pretty rugged outback roads, and it always cuts the most perfect keys you could ever hope for. Only needs one cutter too, as it's computer emulates all angles and flat widths, so you don't have to fart around changing cutters, and no hunting around for S&D cards, everything is in ITL 950's 'brain'. Check the price, I they are heaps cheaper than Codemax. Check out .. 'Intralock Tools Limited'. Search Google.

They won't sell directly but the US distributors will likely seel to him in the UK. The only problem then might be duty on the item when it arrives in the UK.

Why are they so expensive? Markup alone or is there a heafty duty/tariff on them when they are imported? The price you are quoting is ridiculous by US standards. Try to deal direct with US distributors or find someone in the US you trust to buy the machine and ship it to you. You can also find good used machines in the forum section of thenationallocksmith.com.

The highest I have seen it is $4350.00. You can get it for less. Don't be afraid to ask for a discount, it never hurts to ask.
