How does E-Coating of metals work?

Sep 21, 2004 2 Replies

I've heard of using something called an E-coat to protect metals from corrosion as opposed to paint. How do they put an E-Coat on? Does it stand for Electron Coat? Someone I know tried to explain it to me as though it were a voltaic battery. How does it operate without a salt bridge?

thanks!
