Down at school today I found the teacher had been trying to machine a few router bases from some sheet material he was given (don't know the whole story) and was having trouble. SO! Here is the data I have at present: Color gray Non magnetic (could feel no pull with a mag base) Sparks very white long stringes with small fan on end. Density analysis: Measured thickness and dimensions of a rectangular peice (which had been cut with a plasma cutter) Thickness 0.181" Length 9 3/4 " Width 3 1/8 " for a volume of 5.51 in cubed weighed in the chem lab 408.04 gms (the chem teacher :-) ) SO the density works out to be : 4.51 gms/cc 3.17 oz/in^3 342.2 lb/ft^3
Rings like a bell when struck with a metal object.
Looked in Machinerys Handbook and no densities listed for such things. Didn't have a Chem Phys Handbk handy>
Any ideas? ...lew...
