I scraped down to the original SB paint around both oilers, but found no evidence of pipe plugs anywhere. The oilers seem to be mounted on pipe-plugs themselves, I was able to remove the left-hand one, but the casting interferes with removing the right-hand. I did find 2 little holes, one above each oiler. They correspond to the little black dots shown on your photo. They seem to go right through inside the headstock itself- a fine allen wrench didn't hit anything up to an inch or so in. Since I hadn't got the headstock clamped down yet, I just tipped it over onto some 2x2 scraps and let the oil drain, then refilled with the 5W Mobil 1- now it comes with a blue cap apparently... The drained oil came out clean.

I'm ordering the manual from LeBlond, but it will take a few days...

The in-line back-pressure and over-pressure valves use the double set-screws with one setscrew being hex-hole-all-way-through - so it is easier to adjust the spring tension with the inner setscrew and then lock it with the outer one. At least, the Nupro/Swagelok models do use this design.

Of course, still, curse and kill everyone who designs devices will in-line adjustable valves, that need to be takes out of pipeline, and adjusted from inside parts. They are not too nice to adjust in real life, to say the least..

I ran into one of those when I replaced the screw in my Bridgeport mill spindle that engages the slot in R8 tooling. That screw is held in by a set screw that has a thru hole. Maybe a dab of grease next time might hold it onto the wrench just enough to get it started! - GWE
