How to attach a Morse Taper Jacobs chuck to a hand drill?

Hi. I have an old Milwaukee 1/4" electric drill. I wanted to replace the chuck with a spare 3/8" one to give me more capacity but when I removed the old chuck I see it's a Morse taper. I thought they were all threaded.

How do I re-attach the Morse taper chuck??

I assume I just clean both mating surfaces and give it a whack with a rubber matter. I don't want to crack the housing or damage a bearing. Is there a proper procedure for doing this??

Probably a Jacobs taper, not a Morse - especially if it's a male taper on the drill.

Clean it, seat it, tap it on, just as you assumed. And make sure there are no burs or dings to get in the way.
