Motor Cord Question (Maybe OT)

Hello, I am looking to spec a motor and the description says "4 conductor cord 48" long". What does 4 conductor mean? does this mean 4 leads? Im a little confused, so any help would be great. thanks, Lucas.

It means you should *probably* pay an electrican to hook the motor up for you.

According to airborne :

And this is not normally part of the spec of a *motor* -- just the spec of what you would use to connect it to the switch mounted on the machine. With four conductors, it sounds reversible, and as though they are ignoring the grounding of the motor -- perhaps depending on the mounting to do that -- but some motors are isolated on rubber mounts, and need proper grounding assured by yet another wire.

Good Luck, DoN.
