Questions about selling tools on Ebay

Waiit just a minute... Al never wrote a description longer than 5 words, and always in CAPS. The photo with the original post is better than it usually was, too. ;)

I've met Al Babin, and you, sir, are no Babin.

Dear friend: My screen name sir ali babin is not derivative of any arabic culture should you wonder. I appreciate your most kind expression of thanks for the minuscule efforts which took very little time on my part but were just another small offering as homage and proof of my love and devotion to a long lasting friendship and rapport on this newsgroup.

I now picture you greeting your machinist/engineer friends and sitting in on meetings dressed in a lovely Go-Mon kimono with wide brocade maruobi firmly wrapped around your midsection. I notice the sleeves are long indicating to all present you are unmarried and the smell of cherry blossom fills the air. You are a charming and affable host no diggity and I'm positive you leave a warm and lasting impression on these people you meet and greet everyday in your job, those in need of your great capacity and desire to help others same as I too try to do in my own limited grassroots way. I don't smell quite as fragrant however...

You too are doing well for yourself here in America and I am quite proud of you as I sit here in the lotus position on a simple mat facing my humble computer with only the sounds of my pet cricket and small waterfall to help lull me into this trancelike peace. All pain is gone as is the usual intense itchiness of these small patches of psoriasis on my ankles. You are the balm which soothes all my wounds as I read your heartfelt words:

Give us a freaking break! You are the notorious eBay scammer who is well known to many, if not most, members of this NG. You can't even compose pigeon English in a convincing manner. Idiot.

FOAD<

Wishing you all the best in life young Greeley and I say to you. "Go west young man. Do as I did but attempt to have a bit of fun along the way, lame pigeon english notwithstanding." Love, Peace & Good Health to all this holiday season! The new "Honest" Al Babin (talk about takin' the bait... whew!)

I have no doubt.......Its just that I tend to not believe EVERYTHING I read on the internet, and in the case of Ebay sales I realize there is a certain risk inherent one needs to consider.

In my situation, I had carefully assesed the risks and had felt they werent great enough to not go ahead with the sales--so all in all, Im happy with them, its just I felt they coulda done better.......

Conversely, HAD they done better, the bidding might have gone higher.......a two edged sword....

I got what I paid for, and it wasnt below what my realistic expectations were.

Yeah, been in and out. Last time I wrote was when a bunch of crazed machinists(?) attacked me on the way to the shop. I carry a couple IMI Desert Eagles now and have not had any further problems to or from my crib.

The english and photoshop elements classes have helped enormously and I am now working on ebonics since my pigeon english has fallen under harsh scrutiny as of late.

You could say I've been re-born and have seen the light far as the mighty dollar is concerned. One striking change in my on-line selling practises is (this IS a biggie) that I no longer wirebrush rusty old dull cutting tools to an "as new" gloss and dip the once sharp cutters into the hot plastic "instant sharpening" tank and sell them as "new" or "freshly honed to exacting specs".

I find myself evolving into a better human being and hope someday to become a man to look up to, whether you agree with my politics, choice of American truck driven, feelings on Mainland Chinese machinery, or whatever OT shit you can come up with. I want to be respected and can only aspire to the lofty legacy TeeNut left us with. I'm not the original A Babin from years ago but have been here since '96 or so. I took the name on a lark and even joined Yahoo Auctions using the name to remind folks of mans darker side and the responses I get over the years have ranged from concerned helpfulness to outright rage that I could even show my face in public. Yes, there have even been death threats and brutal attacks on my prose. Old A Babin left behind a slimy trail and there are many just like him in the world waiting for the next sucker to victimize so watch your backs, fellow machinists. Happy Holidays and Peace to All! Sir Al Babin (I rarely check this account or mail so responses directly to this ng are best way to reach me here in beautiful rural NC where my neighbor kid (13 or so) just bagged himself a 9 pointer from his backyard "treehouse". Eat your hearts out, boys.)

But are you still buying that grey semi-gloss paint by the 55 gal drum? Your machines used to look so nice all freshly painted (over the rust, the ground surfaces, dials, etc, etc. ) So much better than those other guys' stuff that they didn't even bother repainting!

We also miss trying to figure out what some of the stuff was, from the cryptic descriptions.

Jim: I've made more money off that die holder than any other piece except perhaps some Deckel stuff. Bet I sold that same holder 15 times over the years but have been too busy to ship it out. Will UPS it this Sunday, promise. Al

Bob: Thank you for the compliments! Yes, I used the dip and dunk method of painting for years. Now that my kids are older, they help with the detail paint work while I pack bearings and rescrape to factory tolerances. I make many repair parts myself and now have a small gear hobber and cutter and tool grinding rig so my many past good deeds are being rewarded and yes, I miss the good old days too. All the best! Hmm? Actually, he mis-speeled 'compliant' too, but I fixed that.

Hey Al. What happened to your ebay buddy marjenmachines? Looks like they started using your business model....Paul

Paul: Like baboons group mind en-mass type of mysterious cross country learning we unconsciously went the Enron way of business conduction. I don't condone it, but doing like a puppet for years as greater ape, Bush continues doing. He is stupid maroon and knows nothing about science of poolcue making which is center of the new world order. Happy Holidays!
