UH-oh! drill press countershaft 'geometery problem' is developing - pix posted

working on it now. the "super-wide swing" rear motor mount part is complete. I just now put pix up. I can't figure out where to place, and how best to mount the drill press countershaft bearing carrier.

Hey Dave,

You are getting pretty "elaborate" here, and perhaps that is leading to the problem. The counter-shaft needs to be located along a line as close to 180 degrees from motor shaft to drill-spindle as possible. There is no doubt some "magic number" of degrees you can not be out-board of, but I would think anything from 180 to say plus or minus

30 degrees either side and you should be able to just "let it swing free" about a vertical offset hinge if it is kept in that range. It looks to me at this point that you have no way of changing or adjusting tension on the V-belt from countershaft-to-drill.

How come the "recycled" steel is that turquoise blue colour? Reminds me of........hmmmmm....does the word "Dover" mean anything to you? Let's see what you answer!

Take care.
