This is a bit OT, but I know there are a good few people on this group into cars. I've just bought a Golf GTI, a Mk2 -the Mk1's are getting quite rare and too expensive for me. Got a few odd jobs to do, the most important of which is the speedo. At walking pace the needle bounces around from 20-50 mph, and it seems unreliable at any speed (either it's mis-reading or that artic on the motorway today was doing
95!!). There I was sat there at 110mph, with all the traffic going past me. As you slow down it is slow to react as well.
Anyone got any suggestions, or any experience of VAG speedo's? Failing that, and with an eye on the rpm meter thread, would it be simple to adapt one of the bike speedo's to fit in a car? or build a simple digital one?
