Removing dried out grease in grease lines

Apr 15, 2008 2 Replies

Having just acquired a mill (elliot 00) which has been left standing for at least couple of years all of the grease has dried up and since this had grease lines from remote grease nipples I am faced with tny pipes full of candle wax.- Any hints / techniques on freeing them up e.g. heating , solvents etc... that have worked well for you

Derek

ive tried all sorts of solvents out in the past to remove old grease from bearings .

the only stuff that worked well was petrol .

all the best....markj

A pressure grease gun will push the old stuff outand clean the tubes...
