Slitting saws

Arc Eurotrade sell some useful looking sets of slitting saws but I don't really know which is the best for my application. Can anyone tell me what the relevant criteria are regarding tooth pitch and diameters etc ? I will mainly use them on ms using a Warco VMC so I need to run them at at least 190 (?) rpm. I'll have suds available if that makes a difference.

Also is there any disadvantage to using the sprung type of holder/mandrel which take several different core diameters vs the ones that are specific to a single core size ?

Thanks,

David

I've got one of those which had the disadvantage it was cr*p, it didn't run the blades anywhere near true until I spoke severely to it.

Of course, there are probably good ones out there if you're lucky.

Also the blade clamping is fairly basic, so don't expect to be able to take very heavy cuts or use large diameter blades successfully.

Thanks Tim, that's exactly the kind of practical experience I was looking for, can you also tell me your opinions about tooth size/pitch and diameters for use with MS and also Ally?

Thanks again,

David

Fine pitch for steel, course pitch for ally to stop it clogging. Anything for brass as it self clears chips. Coolant for steel, paraffin or WD40 for alloy, nothing for brass.
