Angular Datums

Aug 09, 2004 2 Replies

Forgive me if I have already posted this.

For some reason I cannot fathom I can no longer use a datum as a reference plane to create a new plane at an angle. I can use an edge or an axis, but not datums.

When I create a new datum, either permanent or on the fly, I use the "through" menu pick, and then select a datum. When I select doneSelect, I should see the angle option, but instead ALL the menu picks are grayed out. If I select done at that point, all I get is a new datum on top of the one I used for the through plane. The same thing happens if I try picking angle first.

What gives?

First pick the datum you want the angle based from. Then hold down Control key and pick inside of the curved surface. you will then have 45 degree angle, which you can now modify to your spec.
