Well, I don't want to sound paranoid, but if there was in fact an ATF advisor working on this show, and ATF deliberately misrepresented APCP (safe enough to use in grade school science project volcanoes, but easily made into a bomb), that's different.

Except they explicitly said "rocket fuel" in association with "ammonium perchlorate" making them appear to be virutally the same thing.

Don, what you are saying about this hijacking is true. Let's do something about it. All folks here have to do is just add the the word jhijack (just an example word choose one) to the subject when the cretin does so.

That way folks like me who are tired of the BS can killfile it and be on our merry way. Thank you.

Regards.

My daughter got one of thse volcano science project kits. The kit contains some plaster gause t make the volcano, and a medicine cup. You supply the baking soda (with red food coloring added) and vinegar.

Come to think of it, that IS what my first rocket used for fuel. Came in an oatmeal sized can? Remco? Anybody remember them?

I think the writers of The Practice could use evil AP or Rocket Propellant in their plots like they did with paint/paint thinner a week or so ago. Think of the dialog from the poor injured party on the witness stand. (If you saw that episode, you know what I mean. Feel free to quote what you remember and put an anti-rocket spin on it).

There sure would have been plenty of 'em there once the Americans came rolling in... I don't think the US army has any with _less_ than that much!

I'm not sure I would consider nobombs.net a technical resource. If you don't have access to a database that has information along these lines, you can Google ammonium perchlorate explosive compositions or ammonium perchlorate binary explosives, just for starters.

Let it go folks. The average Joe probably didn't even notice it. Rocket people did because they know what it is and it's an issue these days.

My apologies. Kinestick when used in binary explosive terms is analogous to Kleenex and Teflon to generalize products or materials. I should of chosen "similar to Kinestick" AP/Nitromethane is a class 4 Perchlorate mixture and AN/Nitromethane is a class 2 nitrate mixture according to ERD. The prior is cap sensitive.

Wrong forum anyway.

Just for your info, Kinestick uses a mixture of "AN" and Nitromethane not AP.SR

Your point is well taken.......I will yield to your wisdom on this one as your average Joe comment is probably correct.

They mentioned AP,powdered aluminum, and polybutadiene(or poly-something I took to be the binder.) And said it was the same ingredients as for a science fair 'volcano'. I don't think so.

The bomb wasn't in the gas tank,it was held by magnets to the underside of the car;they didn't say where, though. They had a couple of clear shots of the magnets affixed to the pipe.

AP,powdered AL,and a binder can be "rocket fuel",but I don't believe anyone uses it for science fair 'volcanos'.
