ROL NEWS--Sky Ripper Systems Gains TRA Approved Manufacturer Status

Sky Ripper Systems Gains TRA Approved Manufacturer Status August 18, 2003 Web posted at: 12:22 PM EDT

Grayling, Michigan ( ROL Newswire ) -- The Tripoli Rocketry Association Board of Directors, acting on a recommendation from Tripoli Motor Testing, has granted hybrid motor manufacturer Sky Ripper Systems Approved Manufacturer Status. This status will allow qualified representatives of Sky Ripper Systems to perform demo launches at TRA sanctioned events prior to the motors being submitted for certification. The approved status period will serve as a way to prove motor engineering in flight, as well as generate interest in the complete line of Sky Ripper Systems 38mm hybrid rocket motors. Sky Ripper Systems thanks the TRA Board of Directors and the staff of Tripoli Motor Testing for their work and assistance in making this status possible.

I submitted Hybrids to TRA TMT at LDRS Co springs in ?1994. Still not approved for "demonstration flights". I even submitted the motors ready to testfire to TMT.

Sounds interesting. Any plans to retail them through Congreve in the UK yet? What ignition method do they use?

Who is Congreve? Do they have a website?

They're going to be importing motors into the UK, that are made by/ designed by Jerry/USR/some third party. I'm unsure of the exact relationship. As far as I know they don't have a web site yet.

Congreve who? :)

Kinda. RATTWORKS Hybrids are the new marketing name. I got UK approved pyro igniter grains and igniters in UK for hybrids which nobody else has been able to do, due to a variety of high cost requirements.

So that means you can use either pyro ignition per RW or GOX per HT and Pratt and PP.

I do not know the specific release dates but the stuff is definitely in country en masse.

It is yet another contract manufactured motor line. They are not USR.

I don't know of a public one either.

Please be aware of the delay sealing upgrades:

All pgrade parts are the correct price: free.

Check the same site at the bottom tips section for throat size verification. KITS come with the correct throat but repurposing 240 loads to 2 120 loads or 4 60 loads is customer commonplace. Liners and nozzles are free (the correct price) to customers and nozzles are reuseable 4+ times each. We have some we fired 20 times.

Congratulations Todd, Woody and Kevin. I wish you success in your new venture and I look forward to seeing one of your hybrids fly this weekend, IIRC.

I'm finishing up a couple of projects. 5.38" V-2 should be done as well as a 2.6" stretched version. I'll also have a couple of oddrocs, a Coffeemate Creamer Rocket (bottle is shaped like a high tech bowling pin and my Lil Johnny Outhouse kit. Depending on time and motivation, I may have a few more new goodies, as well. It's nice to finally have a workshop again. I moved some of my necessary tools and most of my supplies out to my shed and am using that exclusively as a workshop. It sure does give you more motivation knowing that you won't have to climb over a race car in the garage every time you want to do something. ;-) See you Saturday,

Saw the H and I demoed at MIS today. Sweet motors, performed flawlessly and didn't buzz. Nice sound and nice tracking smoke. IMHO, I think that Todd, Woody and Kevin have something there.

I like all motors, buzz or no buzz. I only mentioned it because it was one of the objections mentioned by diehard solid fliers.

Tell me, Marcus, does your 100mm "M" buzz? ;-)
